Overview

Spinal cord tumors are a serious and potentially life-threatening health condition caused by abnormal cell growth in the spinal cord. Diagnosis of such tumors is critical for patients to receive the best and appropriate treatment. Diagnosis is typically performed using a combination of medical imaging technologies such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or computed tomography (CT) scans, as well as a physical and neurologic exam. Once a diagnosis is established, treatment options, such as medications and surgery, can be discussed with the patient’s healthcare team. Early diagnosis and treatment of spinal cord tumors is critical to ensure the best possible outcomes.
