Overview
Laryngology is the study and treatment of diseases and disorders of the larynx, or voice box. This branch of medicine is important for diagnosing and managing diseases that affect the larynx and associated structures, such as the vocal cords, the nerve that controls speech, and the muscles and tissues that support the larynx. Common laryngological conditions include chronic laryngitis, vocal cord spasms, and vocal cord polyps. Treatments may include medication, voice therapy, and surgery. Laryngologists are uniquely qualified to provide comprehensive care for laryngeal disorders and to ensure patients have the best quality of life.
