Overview

Genetics and genomics are related but distinct fields concerned with heredity and the genetic material of living organisms. Genetics focuses on individual genes, their inheritance, and how they influence traits, while genomics takes a broader view, studying the entire genome—the complete set of an organism's DNA—including how genes interact, how their expression is regulated, and how genetic variation contributes to development, evolution, and disease. The growth of high-throughput sequencing and analytical methods has made genomics central to modern biology and medicine, enabling researchers to link genetic variation to phenotypes and to develop diagnostic and therapeutic applications. The journal's research reflects this applied dimension, including "Proteomic and Genomic Techniques in Medical Research: Applications in Cancer, Diagnostics, and Personalized Medicine" (2025), which surveys how genomic and proteomic technologies are used to investigate disease and to support diagnostics and individualized treatment. Such work illustrates how genome-scale analysis is integrated into research on cancer and other conditions. This page gathers peer-reviewed, open-access research relevant to genetics and genomics, supporting researchers and students examining gene function, genome organization, and the translation of genomic and proteomic methods into medical and biological discovery.
