Alcohol Interlocks

Alcohol interlocks are devices connected to a vehicle's ignition system that measure the breath alcohol content of the driver. If the device detects a breath alcohol concentration over the pre-set limit, the vehicle will not start or stay running. Used extensively in road safety initiatives, alcohol interlocks are highly effective in reducing impaired driving and ensuring road safety. The installation of an interlock device has also been found to improve the recidivism rate and reduce the risk of re-offending among alcohol-impaired drivers.
