Biography
Dr. Akiko Tokinobu is affiliated with Kyoto University, where her research focuses on environmental and maternal-child health epidemiology. She holds a Ph.D. in Epidemiology from Okayama University (2016), as well as degrees in International Studies from Tsuda College (1998) and Ayurveda from Gujarat Ayurved University (2006). Her career has spanned systems engineering at Hewlett-Packard Japan, clinical practice as an Ayurvedic counsellor and therapist, and academic positions in human ecology and epidemiology at Okayama University. Her most-cited work, "Maternal Use of Induction Heating Cookers During Pregnancy and Birth Outcomes: The Kyushu Okinawa Maternal and Child Health Study" (2021), exemplifies her commitment to investigating environmental exposures and reproductive health outcomes. Dr. Tokinobu serves as a member of The Society for Integrative Medicine Japan and holds councilor positions with the Ayurveda Society in Japan and Okayama Professional Beauty School.
