Biography
Gregor Leibundgut serves as Head of Interventional Cardiology at the University Hospital of Basel, Basel, Switzerland. His research encompasses a broad spectrum of cardiovascular medicine, including interventional cardiology techniques, heart failure management, and the molecular mechanisms underlying atherothrombotic disease. He has made notable contributions to the study of oxidized phospholipids in acute myocardial infarction and fibrinolysis, as well as to clinical investigations of drug-eluting stents, vascular closure devices, and novel access strategies for coronary procedures. With over 38 indexed publications, his most-cited work is the design and rationale of the DISCO RADIAL study (2022), which has been cited 25 times and examines distal versus conventional radial access for coronary angiography and intervention.
