Primary Amines

Primary amines are organic compounds composed of nitrogen and hydrogen atoms, and are named after their root alkyl group plus the suffix -amine. They are important in biochemistry, as they form the basis of proteins, enzymes, hormones and other important biomolecules. Primary amines are also used as precursors for chemical synthesis of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and polymers. They are also used to catalyze various reaction pathways and can form amide, nitro, ester, and ether bonds. As catalysts and reagents, they can also be used in polyester, polyurethane, and polyamide industrial production processes.
