Blood-brain Barrier Permeability Assay

The Blood-Brain Barrier Permeability Assay is an important tool used to evaluate the ability of molecules to cross through the protective barrier that is the blood-brain barrier. This barrier is a highly selective membrane that separates the brain from the bloodstream and plays a crucial role in protecting the brain from potentially harmful substances. By studying the permeability of the Blood-Brain Barrier, researchers can gain insight into the transport of therapeutic drugs into the brain—crucial for treating conditions such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and epilepsy. This technique can also be used to measure the efficacy of methods to enhance the transport of drugs or other agents into the brain. Thus, the Blood-Brain Barrier Permeability Assay is an essential tool in the investigation of drug delivery systems.
