Biography
Candice Tahimic is an Assistant Professor at the University of North Florida, Jacksonville, Florida, United States. She earned her Ph.D. in Life Science from Tottori University, Japan, as a Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) Research Scholar (2001–2006), and completed postdoctoral training at the Endocrine Research Unit, San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center/University of California, San Francisco. Her research addresses the physiological effects of microgravity and isolation, with her most-cited work examining how catalase overexpression in mitochondria mitigates hippocampal cytokine expression changes under simulated microgravity conditions. Dr. Tahimic has received competitive honors including the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research Endocrine Fellows Forum Travel Award and the Endocrine Society Early Career Forum Travel Award, both in 2013.
