Journal of Sleep And Sleep Disorder Research · Submit a manuscript
Submit a Manuscript
Three routes into the journal, what to have ready before you use one, and the single rule that applies to all three.
01 · Routes
Choose one route
Authors must use only one submission route for the same manuscript.
Sending the same manuscript by two routes creates two records of it, which slows the manuscript down and can put it in front of two editors at once. Pick the route that suits you and use only that one.
- Primary route — ManuscriptZoneThe journal’s submission system.oap.manuscriptzone.net
- Alternative route — Manuscript submission formA simple form that records the manuscript and its files, preset to this journal.openaccesspub.org/manuscript-submission-form
- Assisted route — Editorial officeAuthors who need assistance may write to the editorial office.[email protected]
The submission form opens with this journal already selected. If you reach it by another path, check that the journal shown is Sleep And Sleep Disorder Research before you continue.
02 · Before you send
What to have ready
Everything below is needed at submission. Having it to hand means the manuscript goes to screening rather than back to you.
- 01The manuscriptA single editable file, with tables and figures at the end, each on its own page and each cited in the text.
- 02The article typeOriginal research, Review, Methods and tools, or Short communication. The preparation requirements differ, so choose before you format.
- 03Author detailsFull name, affiliation and discipline for every author, with full contact details for the corresponding author, who is the journal’s point of contact throughout.
- 04Title pageTitle, running title, authors and affiliations. Where you are requesting double-blind review, keep this as a separate file.
- 05DeclarationsCompeting interests, funding with award numbers, data availability, ethics approval and consent where the design requires them, and any use of generative AI in preparing the manuscript.
- 06Reporting checklistThe completed checklist for the study design — CONSORT, STROBE, PRISMA, CARE, STARD or ARRIVE.
- 07Trial registrationWhere the study is an interventional clinical trial, the registry name, registration number and registration date.
- 08Figures and supplementsFigures at full resolution, supplementary files labeled and cited at the point they support.
- 09Billing contactWhere an institution or funder will pay if the manuscript is accepted, the billing contact and any purchase-order reference.
03 · Fit
Two things to check first
- Is it in scope?
- A manuscript belongs here when sleep, a sleep disorder or a circadian question is among the things it investigates — as an outcome, an exposure, a mechanism, a method or a service. The aims and scope page sets out the subjects and the forms of work the journal covers.
- Is it prepared to the requirements?
- Length limits, structure, reference style and the declarations above are set out in the instructions for authors.
What happens after you send it
All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review.
Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.
Submission and peer review are free of charge. An article processing charge applies once a manuscript has been accepted, set by article type on the article processing charges page, and editorial decisions are independent of payment.
