Biography
Kandiah Chandrakumaran, FRCS, PhD (London), is a surgeon and data analyst in the Colorectal and Peritoneal Malignancy division at Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust, Basingstoke, United Kingdom. He completed his PhD in 1993 on peptic ulcer disease, gastric secretion, and Helicobacter pylori. His research focuses on peritoneal malignancies, particularly pseudomyxoma peritonei of appendiceal origin treated with cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy. His most-cited work, published in 2017, demonstrated that the pre-operative neutrophil–lymphocyte ratio predicts overall and disease-free survival following these complex oncological procedures.
