What Happens After Submission?

Initial Editorial Assessment (Days 1-3)

Your manuscript undergoes immediate screening for completeness, scope alignment, and technical quality. We verify that all required elements are present and conduct plagiarism screening using iThenticate. Manuscripts with similarity indices exceeding 30% are returned for revision before peer review.

Editor Assignment (Days 3-5)

An editor with expertise matching your research area is assigned to handle your manuscript. Our editorial board includes specialists across molecular biology, computational modeling, pharmacology, toxicology, and clinical research, ensuring your work is evaluated by someone who understands your discipline's nuances.

Peer Review Process (Days 5-28)

Your manuscript is sent to 2-3 independent reviewers selected for their expertise in your specific research area. Reviewers evaluate methodological rigor, statistical validity, novelty of findings, and significance to the field. We use single-blind peer review to ensure objective assessment while protecting reviewer anonymity.

Editorial Decision (Day 28)

Based on reviewer recommendations, the editor makes one of four decisions:

• Accept: Manuscript is accepted for publication with minor editorial corrections
• Minor Revisions: Manuscript requires small changes addressing reviewer comments (typically 2-3 weeks for revision)
• Major Revisions: Substantial revisions needed, with re-review by original reviewers (typically 4-6 weeks for revision)
• Reject: Manuscript does not meet publication standards or falls outside journal scope

Revision & Re-review (If Required)

If revisions are requested, you'll receive detailed reviewer comments and editor guidance. Submit your revised manuscript with a point-by-point response letter addressing each reviewer concern. Revised manuscripts undergo expedited re-review (14 days) focusing on how you addressed the original comments.

Final Acceptance & Production

Once accepted, your manuscript enters our production workflow. Our team handles copyediting, typesetting, and XML conversion. You'll receive proofs for final approval before publication. The entire production process takes approximately 10 days, after which your article is published online with a DOI and becomes immediately accessible worldwide.

Manuscript Preparation Guidelines

Formatting Requirements

Manuscripts should be prepared in Microsoft Word (.docx) or LaTeX format. Use double-spacing throughout, including references and figure legends. Enable line numbering to facilitate reviewer comments. Pages should be numbered consecutively starting with the title page.

Structure for Original Research Articles

• Title Page: Concise, descriptive title (maximum 150 characters); full names and affiliations of all authors; corresponding author contact information; running head (maximum 50 characters)
• Abstract: Structured abstract (250 words maximum) with Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions subsections
• Keywords: 5-8 keywords for indexing purposes, using MeSH terms where applicable
• Introduction: Clear statement of research objectives, relevant background literature, and hypothesis or research questions
• Methods: Detailed description enabling replication; include statistical methods, software versions, and ethical approvals
• Results: Present findings logically with appropriate figures and tables; avoid interpretation in this section
• Discussion: Interpret results in context of existing literature, acknowledge limitations, suggest future directions
• Conclusions: Concise summary of main findings and their significance

Figures and Tables

Submit figures as separate high-resolution files (TIFF or EPS format, 300 DPI minimum). Each figure should have a descriptive legend explaining all symbols, abbreviations, and statistical methods used. Tables should be editable (Word or Excel format) with clear column headers and footnotes explaining abbreviations.

Supplementary Materials

Large datasets, detailed protocols, additional figures, or video files can be submitted as supplementary materials. These will be published online alongside your article and should be referenced in the main text.

Ethical Considerations

Human Subjects Research

Studies involving human participants must have received approval from an appropriate institutional review board (IRB) or ethics committee. Include the approval number and date in your Methods section. Informed consent must be obtained from all participants, and patient anonymity must be preserved in all published materials.

Animal Research

Animal studies must comply with institutional animal care and use committee (IACUC) guidelines and follow ARRIVE reporting standards. Describe housing conditions, anesthesia protocols, and euthanasia methods. Justify sample sizes and explain measures taken to minimize animal suffering.

Data Availability

We encourage authors to make underlying research data publicly available. Include a Data Availability Statement describing where data can be accessed or explaining any restrictions on data sharing. Datasets should be deposited in recognized repositories with persistent identifiers (DOIs).

Competing Interests

All authors must declare any financial or non-financial competing interests that could be perceived as influencing the research. This includes funding sources, employment relationships, consultancies, stock ownership, patents, or personal relationships with individuals or organizations with interests in the research.
